Ruth B unveils release date of debut album 'Safe Haven'

Publish date: 2024-06-20

We won’t have to wait much longer to hear new music from Ruth B.

“So….On May 5th I’ll be releasing my debut album: Safe Haven,” the former Vine star shared on Twitter. “Wish I could show this to my 10 year old self. It’s really happening!”

Last month, Ruth dropped the lead single off of Safe Haven titled “Superficial Love.” The bubbly track showcases the Canadian singer-songwriter’s storytelling vocals and keyboard skills.

“It’s about letting go of things that don’t matter and discovering yourself in the process. Loving yourself for who you are and demanding the same authenticity in all of your relationships,” she told Billboard upon the song’s release.

The 21-year-old’s career blossomed after her self-produced ballad Lost Boy amounted to over 84,000 likes in only a week. In 2015, Columbia Records (Adele, Beyoncé, John Mayer, Pharrell Williams) took a heavy interest in Ruth’s creative vision. After joining forces with the label, she went on to release The Intro, a four-song EP. Lost Boy achieved certified double-platinum status in the United States.

The rising artist has been working closely with New Zealand producer Joel Little on her debut full-length album. Little was a key asset behind Lorde’s first album Pure Heroine, between producing and co-writing. He became fascinated in Ruth when a friend sent him a demo of her music, acknowledging her authentic voice and ability to wear her heart on her sleeve— traits that are strikingly similar to Lorde.
