Jimmy Kimmel Was Challenged By Sheryl Lee Ralph Following His Quinta Brunson Joke At The Emmys

Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays Principal Abbott at Abbott Elementary, was not amused by Jimmy Kimmel‘s diversionary prank at the 2022 Emmys. After losing the Emmy for his late-night series for the thirteenth time in a row, the host got into the thin margaritas and passed out on stage as Will Arnett brought him up to deliver the award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series.

Since Kimmel was dedicated to the gag, he did not move when Ralph’s co-star and Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson walked onstage to accept the prize, making it difficult for Brunson to deliver her acceptance speech.

On Wednesday, reporters attending a panel at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour said that Ralph was underwhelmed.

Perplexed was the best way to describe my state of mind. It was a mystery to me, she admitted. Still, there were times when I thought, “Man, I wish that guy would just get up off the ground.” It hit me then that it was indeed Jimmy Kimmel.

Oh, the anger! Ralph said, “I also told him to his face.” It was clear to him. Fans of Kimmel’s also criticized his action online, saying he was acting out of white privilege and destroying Brunson’s big moment. And yet, Brunson was amused by all of his shenanigans.

In retrospect, she revealed to the press, “Jimmy offered me my first huge late-night slot and was one of the first people to watch ‘Abbott.” He told me in an Instagram message that he had seen this comedy and thought it was fantastic.

Brunson is scheduled to come on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, so we’ll find out if she’s changed her mind about the encounter.
