Harry Styles Concerts Face Kiwi Ban

Publish date: 2024-06-21

The latest from the ongoing fun-fest that is the Harry Styles World Tour: concertgoers are being banned from buying kiwis. Yes, really.

UK supermarket Asda banned under-25s from buying kiwifruit ahead of Harry’s Manchester show at the O2 Apollo on Wednesday, the Independent reported.

This all comes after fans threw kiwis on stage during Harry’s show at London’s Eventim Apollo, in a creative but slightly dangerous tribute to Harry’s fan-favourite album track and upcoming single, ‘Kiwi’.

Harry almost slipped on said kiwi but managed to recover himself in style, later calling out fans who threw kiwis on stage, saying “This could end up being a problem.”

To prevent any more slippages, Asda decided it was best to ban kiwi sales to under-25s in the stores surrounding the concert venue. They said: “We know our customers love Harry Styles and we feel it’s our duty to protect a fellow Mancunian from any ‘bad kiwis’ amongst us,”

Asda added: “We’d hate to see a repeat of the mishap this evening, so to avoid any slippery situations, we feel this is a necessary measure.”

The Glasgow venue followed suit, putting up ACTUAL signs banning kiwis from being taken into the venue.

Well, it seems that they may have tempted fate as Harry actually ended up falling flat on the ground during the Manchester show, although this time we’re not sure a kiwi was the culprit.

Let’s see it again in slow-mo. You’re welcome.

Ouch.

He then tried to carry on casually, which didn’t last long. The song ended with Harry on his knees in despair.

Oh, Harry. It turns out not even enforced restrictions on fruit sale can stop the unpredictable mess that is a Harry Styles concert. What can we say? He always gives 110%.

We can’t wait to see what else will go down (no pun intended) during the rest of Harry’s tour. This week he’s heading to Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam and Milan before the Asian leg of the tour begins at the end of November.

Prepare yourselves for more potential kiwi-throwing as the music video for ‘Kiwi’ is set to hit us on 8 November. Harry revealed more about the concept of the video today, posting this amazingly stylish photo which appears to show Harry as a school teacher.

At this point, we don’t have a clue what to expect. Our lives are basically a constant question of “what will Harry Styles do next?”

What do you make of that then? Does Harry need protecting from kiwis? And just how excited are you for the ‘Kiwi’ music video? Let us know your thoughts with a tweet over at @CelebMix.
