Anthony Avalos was a 10-year-old boy from the United States of America whose name came into the media prominence following his tragic death on June 21, 2018.

He was tortured and killed after being beaten and suffering internal bleeding. When Anthony’s body was found, it showed signs of physical abuse and malnutrition. 

Following that, Anthony’s mother, Heather Maxine Barron, and her boyfriend, Kareem Leiva, were charged with first-degree murder. Now, they have been sentenced to life in prison.

Who Is Anthony Avalos Father, Victor Avalos? 

Victor Avalos is the Father of Anthony Avalos. Victor and his wife, Heather Maxine Barron, were separated for a long time, and he was not even aware of his child’s condition.

In 2019, Victor sued Los Angeles County claiming the Department of Children and Family Services failed the boy. Attorney Brian Claypool announced the tentative agreement, which was $32 million, would go to Victor and three of Anthony’s half-siblings, who were also allegedly tortured.

The settlement was announced in May 2022. Furthermore, Victor also said a responsible department would have removed the boy from his mom’s home years before he was murdered, and he would still be alive today.

Likewise, he revealed that there are many things he didn’t get to do with his son, like show him where he grew up.

Anthony Avalos Siblings: A Look At His Family Background

There are no records of Anthony Avalos having biological siblings, but it is reported that Avalos had three half-siblings. Los Angeles Magazines have reported their name as half-brother Raphael, half-brother Angel, and half-sister Destiny.

Court records also said that Avalos’ half-siblings watched as he was abused for over six years. Not only that, but they even testified that they were also punished and forced to watch one another being punished, sometimes as Kareem constantly dropped Anthony on the bedroom floor.

Moreover, the whole Avalos family was shocked to hear about the death of Anthony. As mentioned earlier, Anthony’s Father sued the county’s Department of Children and Family Services in 2019.

In support, his aunts and uncles also came forward. They alleged that it failed to interfere despite multiple reports of abuse before Anthony passed away. The case was settled in 2022 in a $32 million agreement, reported by the family’s attorney, Brian Claypool.

Anthony Avalos Murderer Sentenced To Life In Prison

As we know, Anthony Avalos’ Mother, Heather Maxine Barron, and her boyfriend, Kareem Leiva, were charged with first-degree murder. Recently, it was announced that they were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Superior Court Judge Sam Ohta, who found the duo guilty, gave them the life-without-parole sentences for the pair Tuesday morning.

Anthony’s relatives and friends also gave more than two hours of emotional statements, many of whom referred to the defendants as monsters. On the other hand, Neither Heather nor Kareem spoke during the hearing.
